This place is awesome- great ambiance and amazing authentic Indian food. I've been looking for a great Indian restaurant for a while and this one is at the top of my list here in LA. Todd and James are fantastic- make sure to ask for them for outstanding service. Try the Keema Muttar (but make sure to ask them to add potatoes)! Great selection of unique lassi Flavors including strawberry and banana.

The tofu Vindaloo was delicious! Todd and James were great with helping me figure out where to park and what to order. Splitting the dinner special of two vegetables of the day, rice, and naan was the perfect amount of food for two.

This is the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. I strongly recommend not visiting this restaurant. They are totally incompetent, will get your order wrong and then make more mistakes trying to correct it. I wish I could give them 0 stars.

A friend and I having been coming here for years! We love this place! Just ate garlic Tikka chicken last night which never disappoints! Waiters Todd & James were on point, also the ambiance is great! What else can you ask for??

Fantastic as always! Todd, our server was very attentive and helpful with the menu. I've eaten here often, always try new things, and have never had a bad meal! Plus Todd's music selection made the experience perfect!

Really delicious, and the ambiance inside is beautiful. Low lighting, great service, beautiful colors, and amazing curries.

Food was good. Great portions for the price. Curious but lovely ambiance. Todd, our server, was great.

Electric Lotus is the restaurant that made me like Indian food. I used to think I didn't like Indian food until I moved in next door to this place (before they moved). Their masala sauce is amazing! I also love the samosas and most their veggie dishes! Came here again now after they have reopened at new location and food is still as good as I remember. The atmosphere is dark but artsy and Todd was a great waiter recommending things to order. Definitely try this place!

I came here for dinner with a friend earlier this week - what an unexpected treat! When we stepped off Vermont and into the restaurant, we felt like we were immediately transported to another world. The restaurant was not very crowded, although it was nearly 8:30. Todd was the only person running the floor, but he was very attentive and made us feel very welcome. I ordered the lamb vindaloo and my friend ordered the garlic chicken tikka. Both were incredible and I would recommend trying them. I ordered the lamb vindaloo with a medium spice level because I was afraid of it being too spicy, but honestly I think I could have ordered it spicy and been happy with it. One thing to keep in mind: the dishes all come a la carte. For $6 more, you can make your dish into a "meal" which includes two vegetables (that night, it was chana masala and a spinach dish), rice, and naan. Todd suggested that one of us order an a la carte entree and the other order a meal, and to share everything, but we were hungry and decided to both order meals. Take Todd's advice - it is a LOT of food. I can't complain because I got to have delicious leftovers for lunch the next day, but the sides would definitely be enough shared between two people who have their own entrees. My only suggestion would be to order extra naan, because you're definitely going to love it. All in all, an awesome experience! I will definitely be back.

The smells of Indian food wafting down Vermont drew me into Electric Lotus. I loved the decor and definitely felt transported from Los Feliz. Our server, Kenna, was awesome - on point and refreshingly friendly and funny. The food was good. The veggie samosas were amazing and the right amount of heat. The naan was as big as my stomach ... literally spanned the diameter of that sucker, holding it up in front of me. The portions were massive. I definitely went home with leftovers. If you like spice, crank it up all the way. The chicken makhni was good but needed more depth of flavor. I enjoyed the saag paneer and channa that came with the dinner. I'll definitely be back for more and would like to try out their lunch specials.

I have been to this restaurant once before, however, I went to the previous location several years ago, and I had very fond memories of my experience. Last night though....no bueno. I am Indian, and I rarely find an Indian restaurant I don't like. This is probably one of the worst experiences I've ever had. There was no spice, no flavor!! My fiancé felt the same way. And my fiancé's 5 year old son, who loves indian food, said 'no' to this place. A couple of the glass tabletops have broken edges, and my fiancé's son nicked himself with it...I pulled the little shard of glass myself from his arm! There were plenty of leftovers, but, needless to say, we said no to the doggie bags. The only positive...our waitress was very nice, comped is when she got our drinks wrong, without us asking. Naan was pretty good. NEVER GOING BACK!

My second nice experience here was mostly due to the table server James. He's on his game! Intuitive & there when you need him but without interrupting conversation.

Just finished an incredible dinner. Chicken Tikka Masala and cheese and sesame naan. Todd was our server and not only provided excellent service he made wonderful wine pairing suggestions. This restaurant is quiet on a busy boulevard and you won't be disappointed!!

Went here for the first time and definitely enjoyed it along with my girlfriend. I would highly recommend Todd as your server. Answered all our questions accordingly. Definitely made our stay comfortable. As for the food, it cured my girlfriends craving for Indian food. Enjoy guys!!

We have dined here several times and every time it is great. It is a very cozy place. There isn't a dish so far that hasn't been absolutely delish. The prices are great with the amount of food you get. The last time we went, Todd, was our server and he did a stupendous job. Very friendly.

I half proposed to my wife at this restaurant back when it was on the corner of Franklin and Vermont. My soon-to-be wife and i were up at Griffith observatory, looking through the telescopes at the city. I exclaimed "hey! You can see or favorite Indian restaurant from here!" and naturally she squealed and wanted to see for herself. So i put an extra quarter in the telescope so as not to cut the moment short. What did she see? Electric Lotus, of course! But also, two of my best friends holding a 15 foot sign that said "Will you marry me?". She turned to me, on one knee. And said yes. Since there is lousy cell service up at the observatory, my friends held that sign for TWO HOURS! My wife and i finally came back to the Lotus last week ( when they moved, we thought they closed and hadn't been back for years) we were so excited to find then again. The food is even better than i remember. The service was top notch (Thank you, Todd). the prices are more then reasonable for the quantity and quality. And i plan on coming back next week. PS. When you walk into an Indian restaurant with a number of british expats at different tables, you KNOW your are in the right Indian restaurant.

Electric lotus was amazing Indian food! The waiters, Todd and James, achieved the perfect balance of being attentive but not pestering. The atmosphere was comfortable and quiet. Most importantly the food was delicious, I got coconut curry naan and the chicken was tender and seasoned. If you love Indian food I Recommend!

  • Bon B.

I absolutely love this place, & they've updated the menu. They give you ridiculous portions of delicious food! Must tries are: broccoli pakora, (trust me) which is crispy and puffy vegetarian deliciousness. With any dish you can make it a dinner for $6 extra which adds two sides, rice, and naan. While I'm not a vegetarian, coconut tofu curry is so scrumptious that I've ordered it every time I've come to this restaurant in the past nine years! Their filled naan is great. I like to combine cheese and olive into one naan. The result is a steamy, gooey, toasty pocket of delicious briny cheesiness. Their green mint sauce is perfect for that extra flavor burst. Our server James was super attentive & helpful, as was the other staff member who brought our food & took care of our every request, from extra plates, to new silverware. He was always making the place look nice, tidying, all while making note of our needs. They really make an effort to provide a pleasant, relaxing, soft environment for the guests. Lit candles and low Indian music too! My only recommendation is they need to put more lighting outside so that people know that the restaurant is open when the front doors are closed. It's such a lovely new location where everything is much more attractive than the old place. And the food is so good, & nicely presented. I really want them to do well, so definitely pay them a visit, you won't regret it! I just don't know what I would do without my broccoli pakora! (MUST TRY!)

My friends and I went to Electric Lotus to celebrate a birthday! Tom and James were so incredibly wonderful, fun and very thoughtful. Besides the service being amazing, the food was delicious and you get so much food for your money! We can't wait to go back!

Just had dinner here again. I've said it before, I'll say it again. Best Indian food in town. Period. It's consistent. Never fails. If you can, ask for Todd as your server. He's terrific. Great sense of humor and excellent service. Really adds that special something to an already fabulous dining experience. Trust me. Go here. Really. Go. Now.

I've never been during the day, but at night it's really beautiful and romantic. I just love the decor, and the vibe is relaxed and cozy. The service has been good every time I've gone, and the food is incredible! This is THE spot for Indian food in Los Feliz for sure. It is a little more pricey, but the atmosphere and quality makes it worth it.

Had a great dinner tonight at Electric Lotus! I remember when they were at their previous location across the street. I had only been once, but having enjoyed it, I wanted to come back when they reopened earlier this year. Finally I was able to! Todd and Babz were a great team of host/servers. I was there with my mom and we were not sure how much food to order. Todd said that if one of us got an entree, we could get rice, naan, and two vegetable sides for only 6$ additional. We did that along with some papadam and a plate of fried, fresh broccoli. It was more than enough food - I've got dinner for tomorrow now as well! The chutneys were great, as was everything honestly. In fairness, this is not the best Indian food I've had in my entire life (I eat a LOT of Indian food), but it was very good and I was fully satisfied. I would be happy to go back anytime soon, its perfect for a date or a nice meal that isn't too pricy. I would highly recommend the fried broccoli - all of the vegetables were nice and fresh, and they didn't take too long to serve us or prepare the food either. An overall pleasant experience, I will certainly return with friends soon!

Yay for Todd and Babz! We went here for a delicious dinner last night, and were not disappointed. The garlic naan is epic, and I also recommend the Saag Paneer. The service was pretty great too. A good mix of jovial good energy, and leaving you to enjoy your meal. They have a valet that is $4 with validation, but on a week night, street parking wasn't an issue. The decor makes the restaurant romantic and moody, and the booths felt very intimate.

Food is delicious. Especially the Saag and the coconut curry! Our server, Todd, was very friendly and provided good recommendations. Great ambience inside and the music playing during our visit was by far one of the most fantastic elements of the trip to Electric Lotus!

This review is for their take-out and not for the brick-N-motor restaurant. I love Indian food and having lived in India for a year, I am always excited to check out new Indian restaurants in town. The first thing that jump out of the box is the large portion size. Definitely a plus! It took us 3 days to finish our Vegetable Biryani. The Garlic Naan was garlicy and the Chana Masala was Chana-y. Everything tasted very well. If you're looking for straight up legit North Indian cuisine definitely check out the Shahi Paneer. A thick gravy of delicious spicy that hits you in the mouth (in a good way). The Chicken Tikka masala was also a hit. The delivery was quick and easy and overall, I enjoyed my meal. While the food was definitely good, nothing jumped out of me or was 'electric' as the name suggests. Definitely come here if you're looking for your Indian fix, but also look around and see what else is out there.

Our return to Electric Lotus tonight was nothing short of delicious and memorable. The food was as tasty and well prepared as I remember at their previous location. The staff was so helpful, enthusiastic and passionate about the menu and rightfully so. We enjoyed every bite and look forward to our next visit at this neighborhood gem. Truly a wonderful community pick, Ashley and Todd made us feel so welcome and at home at what is now one of my absolute to go to neighborhood spots!

My husband and I came here on a whim on a rainy Saturday night and it was perfect. Delicious food, cozy atmosphere, attentive service. Todd was a great waiter and did not steer us wrong - he explained the menu & everything he recommended was fantastic. So glad to have this place in the neighborhood!

This place has very great food and I love how it is a small restaurant with so much stuff. And if you love sports, you can take your food to the sports bar which has 4 pool tables, foosball, pacman, deer shooter, Galaga, street fighter, and arcade golf.

My friend and I stumbled into this place not knowing what it was and we were very happy we did. The food was great at a reasonable price and we left full and satisfied. Our server Kenna had an excellent check in with us to let us eat ratio. She also perfectly marinated in between the, "I think we know what we want" and the "Now we actually know we want" stages. She was very sweet and engaging which made the meal taste that much better. Well done Kenna. One of the 2 dishes we got was called the Bertha and I highly suggest it. Very strong dish and was extremely delicious. The Naan was also very good, I'd give it a 8.4 out of the classic 9.3 scale of rating naan. Overall a good experience and if you want tasty Indian Food I would suggest Electric Lotus.

Great food but really terrible service. Probably the worst service I've ever had at any restaurant. But if you're looking for good Indian food and have low expectations for service then check it out.

  • Chandler S.

I got the electric tofu and it was great. Had a Somosa and Lassi, both were great. Todd was our server. The atmosphere and food are great but I would recommend that they pay for their internet radio because the ads were kind of annoying and distracting from the cool vibes.

    (4)
  • Motti S.

The place is beautiful and the service was great (James and Todd were very helpful and friendly) bur the food was actually kind of bland for Indian. We ordered Medium Hot (which is usually quite hot for non Indians) and it wand not hot at all. We had to ask for extra spice. Nice ambiance and service, but I go for the food first and there are much better Indian places food wise.

We are often at Electric Lotus. Food is delicious, the prices aren't bad, and the atmosphere is awesome. Throw in the friendly service and it's a great night out. My boyfriend and I took his father there this week when he came to visit from out of town. Todd was our server and made sure we got everything we needed. We will definitely keep coming and continue you to recommend it.

Great ambience. Great food. And great service from Todd and James. We were at the Skylight Theater and just meandered over here. You should too. The coconut curry was yummy and my friend loved his saag. And the price was right. You should come here.

For once an Indian restaurant that serves as authentic Indian fare as you can this side of the world. The menu is pretty standard with items that you see in almost every Indian restaurant in the States. I got the lamb korma lunch special. It comes with excellent basmati rice a side of vegetable and a healthy serving of korma. The sauce was one of the best I have tasted outside India and the lamb was cooked just right. I have to go back and try the other dishes. And considering the taste, the quality, the quantity and the setting, the price of $10 was very reasonable.

I'm a big fan of Indian food. I've been to Electric Lotus before and since they reopened on Vermont, and this place is just... not good. It's consistently mediocre. Oversalted, underflavored, whatever it is, I have never once been happy to be eating there. if you genuinely love Indian food like I do, Electric Lotus is probably not for you. At least the ambience is nice.

  • Cris C.

Incredibly delicious food! Kept me full for hours without ever feeling like I "overdid it". Todd was a gracious host and made us feel welcome and comfortable. My wife and I shared the Chicken Tikka and we added rice, naan, spinach, and garbanzo beans. Would definitely come back! Don't know what took us so long :)

The pakoras are heavenly, generous and it's brilliant they are cooked in chick pea flour! We always have a delicious food here and usually great service from Todd! The ambience is brill with nice dim lighting and the retro tunes rock.

  • Christine S.

Beautiful ambiance and delicious, albeit extremely pricey food (at least for dinner). However, they have got to find a different Spotify/Pandora station! Having The Pixies, Smashing Pumpkins, Rolling Stones, etc. blasting while you are having an expensive, romantic meal in an INDIAN restaurant is jarring and odd. How about some nice Indian music to set a more appropriate tone for your restaurant?

  • Julie C.

Yummy!! Had the fish tandoori, since in my old age, I've developed a shellfish allergy. We'll definitely be ordering that again. My fav thing there is the mulagatani soup. I crave it!! So there I was with a bit of a sore throat, lovin my soup & listening to The Pixies. Doesn't get better than that!

  • Parabanger M.

Went here after movie in LF theatre nearby. Gentleman named Todd took our order, was very attentive (restaurant was practically empty). food and wine were good. Best to go in a group and share items since quantities are rather large. We were unable to finish more than about 40% of what we ordered. Cost was bit more than middling but not exorbitant. I'd go again. 3.5 stars. Got free glass of wine for promise to post review on yelp

The people giving this place more than 2 stars for food obviously don't know what Indian food is or supposed to taste like. Also, service is horrendous. So many other places to go to, so little time.

One of my favorite Indian spots now next to the Study and Public House in Los Feliz. We ordered the Palek Paneer (love me some creamy spinach with paneer), Aloo Gobi (cauliflower with potato) and chicken masala with some basmati rice, roti and paratha. Super spicy, perfectly seasoned and delicious. The atmosphere is cute and quaint. Overall, great experience and Todd, our waiter, was really cool.

I loved our meal here this evening! I highly recommend the chicken korma, shrimp coconut curry, and the lamb curry! Todd and James were great waiters - we were rolling at todd's jokes! It's a really quiet place and they totally embraced how loud we were! Heheheh!!! Go there now for some authentic and delicious Indian.

What can you say if it's all been said. Go here. Best Indian In LA. Best service. Ask for TODD. The portions are huge, so be careful in getting 2 apps and 2 meal deals unless you want to wheel yourself out. The staff is super nice and the kitchen is ridiculously fast. Oh yea...the decor is perfect and whether on a date or with a group they will accommodate. Thanks Electric Lotus, as soon as I can think of ever eating again, I'll be back!

Just ordered delivery from here - loved it. The curries are delicious, the samosas are awesome. The naan wasn't my favorite, but was good for eating the curry. Overall it gets 4 starts for taste, 5 for delivery time, and I will definitely be ordering from here again.

Beautiful decor. Nice place. Food was really good. I would recommend this place. I went on a Wednesday night. The only thing I didn't like was that we weren't yet done with the food and I still had some wine left and they stopped the music and turn up the lights. Wasn't really cool.

Rooting for Electric Lotus- Los Feliz needs a great Indian restaurant. My food was good, service was my only issue- our server seemed to have problems with three people total in the restaurant. Wish the lunch special came with naan instead of the odd salad/dressing. Other than that the new location looks nice and my entree was very good...I would recommend it!

Ordered dinner from here tonight for the first time. Got masala sauce dinner with chicken. Portion of chicken was generous and it came w a side of spinach and veggies with a large portion of rice, and naan. For the price I feel like I got a lot of food. I also ordered the ground beef samosas and they were phenomenal!!! So crispy and full of meat. I was very, very happy with my order. On top of great food the delivery guy was super nice! I needed some change back and he was very polite and thankful for the tip. Awesome place! I hope to one day check it out in person! Highly recommended.

Still on an Indian food kick after only trying it for the first time earlier this year. Since this place is only a few blocks from my apartment, I thought I'd give it a try. Great choice! The food I got at Electric Lotus hit the spot. I've gone for lunch a few times now and each time I've walked away satisfied and stuffed. Chicken tikka masala is my fave, but I've also gotten lamb korma and vindaloo which was also super good. I also like that I can get extra salad instead of rice when I'm trying to eat low carb. Will always miss that garlic basil naan though. What makes this place extra MVP is the price of the lunch special. Los Feliz doesn't have many spots for cheap eats, but getting a platter of food for $8 is a steal here! And for an Indian restaurant, that's extra cheap. I'll be a regular here, catch me at lunch!

  • Anthony T.

The food is delicious, hot, (a little Americanized) and almost anything will easily be made vegan (and more delicious). All the staff is pretty amazing. I'll give the proper accolades to our server last night, Ashley. She's friendly, she's quick, she's responsive and she made our short visit there comfortable. Thanks! Most dishes are 10 bucks and a LARGE side of rice is 3. Well worth it. This place has got some pretty cool atmosphere too. This place is a little more updated than most Indian joints I've visited with vibrant colors. It seems probably due to practically this whole block in Los Feliz being owned by someone who knows how to run a business.

  • Miriam A.

Food is absolutely delicious. The chicken tikka masala, the shrimp, the spinach, samosas, rice with onions and peas, and regular, cheese and garlic naan are all to die for. A little bit on the pricer side, but well worth it. The atmosphere is soothing as well. I go here at least once a month!

As far as standard Indian fare goes, Electric Lotus isn't bad at all. It fits right in the middle. Everything else about it like ambiance and service contribute to a pleasant experience. It's a decent local spot where you can take a few friends to catch up with before the weekend. I dined here when they were at their original location down the block by 7-Eleven. Went back for dinner a couple of weeks ago and it was just as good as I remember. Made reservations for Friday night without problems. Walked in and was seated promptly. Customer service was fine; I saw the owners helping out so it was all hands on deck for a busy evening. We got everything we needed and left satisfied. The food was delicious and the portions generous for our table of three. We ordered the veggie samosas to start and enjoyed the chana masala, tikka masala and one of the aloo entrees for our core dishes. The wait staff was courteous and obliging, coming around to fill our cups every chance they got. The place is distinctly romantic with its Middle Eastern drapery and light fixtures, it's pretty. I recommend this place for just about any occasion and I hear it's a popular lunch spot. Park in the surrounding neighborhood, it's a nice walk over. Namaste!

I want to not like Electric Lotus, because it feels like Indian food for white people. They were playing 80s music, which makes no sense (great live version of Depeche Mode's "Never Let Me Down Again," though), and it's in Los Feliz. However, other than the authenticity issues with the music, I can't think of a single thing wrong. The servers were friendly and the food came out in a timely manner. There's already mango chutney on the table, instead of having to pay extra for it, and it is delightful on the veggie samosas. The prices are very reasonable for the serving sizes, and a lot of the dishes are available with tofu instead of meat. We had the Jelfrazzi tofu (kinda spicy) and the Paneer Tikka Masala (creamy goat cheese chunks in a delicious sauce) with jasmine rice, all of which were really good; I liked the paneer best. We ate it with a gargantuan piece of fresh naan, and even though my friend and I are both Team Food, we both took a to-go box home, despite our best efforts. I feel like I should be going for a more authentic experience when I have Indian food, but I'll definitely be back to Electric Lotus no matter how lamely tri-hipster area it makes me feel.

Definitely have had better. Tried this place twice to make sure. We ordered here to-go for our film shoot. We got everyone to choose a lunch special. They gave us 10-12 orders completely unmarked, in the WORST styrofoam packaging to put curries and liquids in. It leaked EVERYWHERE. So messy. And as a heads up, the chicken tikka takes FOREVER to cook. We were late on lunch because of it. Then I went here with a friend. I got the tikka masala and it was like eating a salt lick. Wasn't able to taste any of the other spices. Papadum was two slices for a little over $2...WHAT. Was not expecting only two pieces, that's crazy. I'd say if you are looking for an indian restaurant, go to Taste of India instead down the street a bit. This place isn't very good.

Todd and Ashley were great! Have been coming here since the old location up the street by the 7-11. Still great food and perfect for date night. Even with a coupe of glasses of wine, extremely affordable.

Ever feel like escaping on a dining adventure? Step into Electric Lotus and you'll be taken away from the hustle bustle of Vermont Ave and into a genies lamp. Lanterns are strewn along the ceiling, colorful linens cascade the walls, and Hindu statues watch you as you eat - this place truly is a unique dining experience in the heart of Los Feliz. I come here for the lunch specials when you can get a fairly large meal portion that includes an entree (a curry with meat, chicken tikka masala, or entree salad), a veggie side (changes daily), a side of greens, and a generous serving of rice all for $8-$11. The service is good, even though during lunch hours there may only be one server. Parking is available in a private lot accessed via Vermont. Recommendations: lamb korma, chicken curry, chicken vindaloo, fresh garlic naan Apanē bhōjana kā ānanda lē!

Don't be fooled, this isn't the old Electric Lotus, the one that was a few blocks away a few years back. Now I don't care if it is or isn't the same owners. The original Electric Lotus was cool. It was funky. It had an ambiance and a mood, a great mood. And on top of that, the food was great. This new place has no ambiance, it's much smaller, and the food is just okay. I used to go to the original Electric Lotus often until because I got busy with life I stopped going. That was a few years ago. Then we decided to go again and I was surprised to learn it had moved. I figured, it must have been a lease issue. But no it must have been more. Now to be fair, the food is decent, very decent and the portions are generous. I may go back again if I'm in that part of town, but I wouldn't care to drive from Pasadena like I used to for the old Electric Lotus. Also, I server, even though a little interesting, was very helpful and fun.

We're pretty lucky to be able to say this is our neighborhood Indian spot. We live about a 3 minute walk away, which is certainly an incentive. But the real draw is the terrific food, the laid back vibe, the funky, pleasant decoration, the very reasonable prices, and the always attentive service. For a while there was a waitress who was there every single time we came in. We haven't seen her in a while, but lately Todd and Ashley have been the ones on duty, and they're both great. If you're looking for good Indian food and a lovely night out, this is it.

Enjoyed a wonderful meal here last night with a dear friend. Ashley was very accommodating in adjusting an ingredient in some dishes, and was just lovely, great service! Todd is also a hoot, as well as a great server. I look forward to returning. We were made welcome the moment we walked in. Todd and Ashley should reach a course on customer service to every one in the service industry. Top drawer all the way. Thanks for a wonderful evening!

Lunch on Friday, 12/26/14 My co-workers and I visit this restaurant every so often. It's located in between Sidewalk Grill and Public House. We've never had to wait for a table although there are times when it takes a while for the host to appear because they are also owners of Public House so he/she may be wandering next door. The ambiance is dark so it can be romantic but we usually go in a group. The lunch special menu is under $10 and it's a decent-sized portion. It usually gets us stuffed. My favorite dish is the Korma whether it's the lamb or chicken. The entree comes with a vegetable (lentil beans, spinach, or garbanzo beans) and a salad with homemade dressing. I would recommend this place for a quick fix to satisfy your Indian food craving.

Yelp is asking me for tips about the atmosphere of Electric Lotus. Good question. Electric Lotus is NOT 'Divey', 'Hipster', 'Touristy', 'Trendy' or 'Upscale'. And it is more 'Casual' and 'Intimate' than it is 'Romantic' and 'Classy' because I come here for their inexpensive $4.99 vegetarian lunch special, which feels pretty 'Casual' during the day. Although I can see how it changes at night, I also checked off 'Intimate' as I am usually the only person amongst other loners, a grim gathering of single men eating Indian food in a large dark restaurant. Electric Lotus could be brighter or more vibrant, but for the price, it doesn't bother me too much. It offers lots of seating to have their cheap and delicious vegetarian lunch special offering, which usually includes chana masala (garbanzo beans), saag (spinach), basmati rice and salad. All of their food is really good, freshly prepared (at least) by that morning and vegan, unfortunately they do not have any substitutes for a non-dairy salad dressing (they don't have oil for salad dressing - they once looked at me as if I was crazy for asking and offered cooking oil) so often I get a lot of lettuce leaves to eat with the masala sauce, which is fine. Their vegetarian lunch special sometimes has daal (lentils) instead of one of the aforementioned, but more often than not, it is usually chana masala. Fast enough service and quite a large plate of food for the price!

This was my first time eating Indian food and I have to say............... WHAT a delicious experience. James and Todd were running the show and the service was excellent. They were both attentive and so so nice. I was there with my family and we ordered a bunch of things to share... so much naan (garlic and wheat.. both amazing), and lots of things I won't get the names right of (that spinach and cheese dish, lamb curry, tofu vindalloo, some sort of delicious chickpea dish, vegetable pakora (sp?), and basmati rice). I could not get enough. I cannot wait to come back here and enjoy the amazing food and delightful service!!

Every time I go to Electric Lotus, I think "Today is the day I need to write another Yelp review"... and somehow I never get around to doing it. But I've been so many times now, and I always enjoy the experience so much, that it would be bad karma if I didn't write about it. What can I say? It's yummy, it's a really good deal, it's a nice place for a date without being corny, and the waiters are always super nice and attentive. Also, I love that there is something for everyone. I eat everything, but I've been with friends who are vegetarian and vegan, and everyone can find something to their taste. When we go with my boyfriend, we usually get an a-la-carte entree, as well as another entree as a dinner plate (which includes two sides of the day, some rice, plus a naan bread). There's always enough left for a nice lunch for one of us the next day. Among my favorites are the aloo gohbi, the eggplant entree (can't remember the name), the saag paneer, chana masala, and the lamb mint curry. But really, I have yet to find something I don't like. It all delicious!

I'm obsessed with Indian food. I gain roughly 5lbs whenever I travel to India, the result of eating everything in sight. When we moved to our new neighborhood, we were told by a fellow Indian food lover that Electric Lotus was the best she's had in the city. It's not actually high praise - LA is lacking in great Indian food - but she swore it was delicious all the same. We ordered delivery and was pleased with the amount of food we received. We'll be eating this for days! I made a meal out of tofu tikka masala, channa masala, and basmati rice. The tofu kind of reminded me of Thai food - lots of bell peppers and a seasoning similar to Thai. Strange, but not bad! The channas were more what I was expecting. Channas never fail me, haha! My husband was less than pleased with the sticks of ginger in every dish. He's okay with ginger being in his food, but when he's chewing on it, he's not a happy camper. Didn't bother me, though! Delivery was quick, and there a couple other items on the menu I'd like to try. You get a ton of food for the money, so I'm enjoying not having to cook a couple nights this week. I've had better Indian food in LA (Bombay Palace comes to mind) but this is a solid delivery option in our neighborhood. We'll be back!

Great food and great service. The lamb curry was tender and tasty with no gamey taste. The chicken curry was moist and the curry seasoning in both was quite nice.

Yeah, I just love Electric Lotus. The food is delicious and you can eat for days with the portions, which makes it a great value for the price. AND THEY DELIVER to Atwater Village! This new mom couldn't be happier.

Sitting in for dinner at Electric Lotus is a visually invoking experience. Your eyes just can't help but wander around the walls and ceiling to look at the wonderful decor. This place absolutely delivers on the cultural feel, but sadly not on the service or the food. I'd give the food the upper hand between the two. To describe the service, I can simply say it was lacking. Other than dropping by to refill our glass of water there was no form of communication with our server. He just took our order and that was the last of him really. In addition, he failed to notate that we asked for spicy on both the chicken tikka masala and the channa aloo. So when the food came out, initially we're filled with excitement; our bellies were yearning for that Indian food. The garlic basil naan was ridiculously large; eye opening big. Our excitement grew larger, but after a few spoonfuls of both the chicken tikka and the channa aloo we realized something was off. Both dishes seemed as if they weren't fresh and they certainly weren't spicy, at least not for our taste. Thankfully, the owner came by to ask about our food, and my girlfriend told her about the lackluster spiciness. The lady said she would take care of it and a few minutes later we had two new dishes with a true spicy kick. Not only was it spicier but it seemed much more fresh. I wouldn't want to accuse them of serving precooked meals but unfortunately that's the impression we got, especially after our now then spicier dishes were brought out. As it turns out, according to the owner, the server never put in our order for spicy chicken tikka masala or channa aloo. I would have gone with a two star rating had she not taken action but I do commend her for at least coming over to ask about our food. Also, a nice gentleman who was helping wait tables made much more of an effort in making us feel welcomed and accommodated than our actual server. Those two acts were a reason to add a star. I still believe there should be a little more emphasis on the service. As for the food, I don't think anything needs to be changed but I'll assuredly be going elsewhere for Indian.

Monday evening on our way to the Greek Theatre we stopped at Electric Lotus for dinner. (First time, found the place on Yelp.) Our waiter, Todd was excellent, he recommended us (two people) to order one dinner plate & one a-la-carte dish. We ordered the ChickenTikka Masala dinner & a-la-carte Chicken Vindaloo. It was perfect amount of food & we saved $6.00 not ordering 2 dinners. The portions were very good size & the dishes were very tasty. We will definitely return!! Thank you, Todd, for your recommendation & the great service.

I have been coming to and ordering Electric Lotus for years, in both locations. It has consistently been great, I'm never let down! Tonight Todd (an excellent dude) recommended the rack of lamb which in all of these years I had never tried and now I have a new favorite! The meal deal is the perfect amount of food, which is often difficult when ordering Indian...

Ironically and contrary to form, I didn't really order "Indian" food per se here, but my experience was really nice just the same. Actually, I was quite pleasantly surprised. But JSYK, I have eaten here before and did find the food to be quite flavorful and authentic. This time, I only ordered the Veggie Soup and the Vegetable Salad. (Or was it the Vegetable Soup and the Veggie Salad?) Well, anyway, the place was crowded to near-capacity, but Todd the server quickly and efficiently took my order. The soup and salad arrived simultaneously and I was really blown away. The salad, costing less than $5.00, was HUGE. All kinds of fresh veggies adorned it, such as red bell pepper, cucumber, tomato, etc., and its substrate was layers and layers of fresh dark greens. No wilting iceberg lettuce turning maroon at the edges here! It came with a large canister of a desi-esque (that means Indian subcontinent country style for you honkies out there) buttermilk ranch dressing, which I used about half of. Another nice touch (not terribly Indian but who cares?) were the crisp (not stale) tortilla strips on top! The soup was also marvelous: piping hot in generous portion, with a heady, seemingly authentic desi pungence, served in an elegant copper karahi. Chock full of fresh cauliflower mini-florets, green peas, carrot spears, savory potato chunks, etc., it redoled exotically of cinnamon and just a tinge of cumin. Perfect, really. Todd does get a bit rattled when it is busy, but don't mistake his "way" for rudeness or arrogance. He genuinely cares about your culinary experience and it soon shows. When things settle down later, he lets his hair down a bit, and he's really a great guy. I also observed that he practices genuine compassion in his work in a way that truly impressed me.

I've walked by this place countless times. Its right in between Public House, a popular sports bar, and Sidewalk Grill, a great little mediterranean restaurant. So, there we were, dinner for 5. I've eaten at every place on Vermont, except for Electric Lotus, so had to finally try it. The food was great and really hit the spot. Chicken tikka, Chicken masala, the rack of lamb, and of course, that beautiful, soft, delicious naan to die for. The waiter was a bit weird. But the food and wine was spectacular. It doesn't get very crowded, so getting a table is not a hassle.

Delicious. My husband and I enjoyed our dinner and the garlic naan. Good servers are sometimes hard to come by in LA so we always appreciate great service (thanks to Todd and Ashley who were friendly but not annoying). We went on a weekday night and the restaurant had a steady flow of customers but wasn't too busy.

Ever have that problem where you want one of EVERYTHING on the menu at a great Indian spot...but you know ordering 3 entrees would a) be too much food and b) be super expensive? Electric Lotus has you covered! Todd suggested I deviate from the a-la-carte Manu and go with a Dinner, affording me my beloved Chicken Tikka Masala, 2 vegetables (Saag acquired!), and Naan...all at a reasonable price. So here I am, with a mountain of incredibly tasty food - literally eating everything I want - ok ok OVEREATING - while Todd and the staff are looking after me and ensuring I've got everything I need. Happy tummy, great service, fantastic location, and wonderful atmosphere...Electric Lotus has it all.

SO OVERRATED!!! Eating Indian food growing up and at various restaurants in Los Angeles, I cannot imagine how some of the other yelpers have said this is the best Indian food in Los Angeles. In my humble opinion, Manohar Delhi Palace (who caters every Indian wedding in Southern California) outdoes this restaurant by a lot. The ambience here is nice, but needs work. It is dimly lit, with Moroccan lamps everywhere, and the seating layout is also good. However, when we first sat down, they did not have any music playing and you could hear everyone else's conversations. I jokingly told our waiter that they needed some good Indian tunes and he told me that they use Pandora, but the Ravi Shanker station they use starts and stops and is unpredictable, although the David Bowie station does not do the same. They ended up putting on the super American music (totally clashing with the theme), which was better than nothing. The food here was average at best. We started with the samosas, which were good. It did not go unnoticed that they brought a caddy of chutneys that were refrigerated. A lot of Indian restaurants in Los Angeles nickel and dime you for each chutney order but they didn't. We ordered the shahi paneer dinner plate which came with chole and saag paneer. It was out in less than 10 minutes and I immediately noticed that it looked very different from that shahi paneer I have had my entire life. I took a bite and it was not good at all. I asked our waiter if this was what we ordered and he said yes. I told him it does not look like the traditional dish we usually have and he was pretty confused. He offered to switch out the dish for the popular electric paneer which I thought would be a good option. It was definitely better then the shahi paneer but still just okay. We still paid for both. I ordered chai but it didn't come out till after the food and they didn't bring any sugar. :-/ Overall, this restaurant definitely is not meant for Indians. The food is lacking in flavor and is not authentic. However, I really appreciated the great service and smiling faces.

This place is our go to Indian spot in LA. Always fresh and generous portions. I had the Mint Lamb Curry with Garlic Basil Naan and my date had the Chicken Masala with Basmati rice. I had a chai tea which was spicy. If you're craving Indian food this is the JAM!! Todd was our server, a baritone with charisma and hospitality. James rocked the house too. See ya guys soon!

This restaurant, Electric Lotus, gave top notch service tonight. They custom made my soup when I asked for extra garlic and the soup was under $4. The garlic naan and the in house chai were delectable. I received exemplary service from all the staff. This place is a hidden treasure!

Electric Lotus is the rare indian restaurant located on a trendy street in Los Feliz that appears to be operated by non-indians. The decor and ambiance are eclectic and cool. The menu is quite large, and the portions are ginormous! Any of the "dinner" combos are large enough to easily feed two hungry people. I thought the food was decent, and was only disappointed by the undercooked garbanzo beans in the chana masala. We ordered "rice pudding" (kheer?) for dessert which was good but a little too runny for "pudding". I wouldn't call this the best indian food in Los Angeles, but it will do if you're craving a naan and some paneer, as we were.

Nice atmosphere. Until the phone rings. This place has its incoming calls piped into their PA and the entire can hear the phone ringing and it's LOUD!!! This is an unbelievable annoyance. Otherwise the food is unremarkable but decent.

This is my goto Indian spot when I'm craving chicken tikka and cheese naan. Plate servings are huge and can be shared if you don't have a large appetite. I am by no means an Indian Food authentication aficionado, but I haven't had Indian food this good since I lived in NYC and was a frequent visitor to Little India. I will say that if you're a person who wants the spices to burn holes in your mouth (or make it feel that way), I'm not sure this place can do that. I ordered medium spicy and it wasn't spicy to me at all - and I'm a weakling. Next time I go I will definitely order hot and update this review to let you know if it makes some kind of crazy ass jump. Our server was Todd who was super nice and answered questions (and warned us that medium was weak). The ambiance is super kitschy Indian in a fun and cool way. It's a nice sit down Indian restaurant for a very reasonable price which I've been searching for and it happens to be in the very cool part of Los Feliz. I love this place. I over ate. Which is a great sign that I'll be back because it takes ridiculously delicious food to make me want to over eat.

Just had dinner at Electric Lotus tonight. We love the ambiance and aromas for starters. If you're not hungry when you enter, you will be in a few minutes. Our waiter was Todd - cordial and dedicated. He made us feel welcome and valued. His suggestions for both "what" and "how much" were spot on. Between three of us, we had Chicken Maknhi, Vege Korma, and Channa Masala. Per Todd's suggestion, we ordered one as a full meal, and two ala cartes. It was the perfect amount. But best of all....it was absolutely delicious. Might have to make this a weekly venture.

Good food but kind of on the expensive side. I've never been to an Indian restaurant that one, doesn't include rice with their meal and two, doesn't have Indian coffee but the food was good. Not sure if I'd go back because there was some awkwardness with the waiters and staff in the back. Definitely witnessed a waiter yelling at a kitchen staff member.

The Indian food here is good and everything tastes very fresh. It may not be 100% authentic but points for the quality of ingredients. Ordered two paneer dishes. Super soft and the saag was made well. They dont make everything finely chopped or saucy which makes it taste homely. Kudos for no added colors.. They have good naans

I came here for a friend's birthday this past weekend and it was really good! I've only had Indian food one other time and it was just okay but here, everything is really flavorful and cooked well! Yay: -Lamb vindaloo: not gamey at all. Nice bold flavors. It went really well with the garlic naan. I also liked topping it off with the green (chimichurri looking sauce) and the chutney. -Tandoori chicken: this was one of my favorite dishes. Moist chicken with a nice flavor. I enjoyed this with the rice and the naan as well. I made a wrap out of the naan, chicken, the greens the chicken came with and the sauces. It was sooo good! Other: -Ambiance: it seemed like a nice romantic place. Most of the lighting were from those red candles on the tables. Maybe that's why people kept tripping. The floor leading to the bathroom is slightly uneven so people kept tripping over it. Be careful! Even one of the waitresses tripped over it and spilled a pitcher of water. -Parking: we didn't see any designated parking lot so we valet. It took a long time for he valet guy to come greet us. Other than that, there were street parking. We got a few other dishes but those two were my favorite. My friends enjoyed the chicken samosas, cheese naan, and the chicken masala. Definitely coming back here!

Did not love this place. I was already very skeptical of its authenticity due to its name. More hipster thai than anything else. But was down to try it because of a friend's recco. It didn't start well... my friends and I were the only patrons here ordering and it still took 40 minutes to get our food. Our order consisted of all the usual stuff-- chicken tikka masala, lamb vindaloo, chicken tandoori, garlic naan. The best dish was the lamb. It had good texture but it didn't taste like vindaloo at all. That was the story for all the dishes--nothing tasted the way it was supposed to, which was beyond disappointing.

Came here with some friends the other night for a birthday dinner and couldn't be happier with the food and service. We ordered the chicken makhni, lamb vindaloo and saag paneer with rice and naan and everything was absolutely delicious! Great beer and cocktails as well. The servers gave us the full birthday treatment - free cake and drinks! We'll definitely be back for a casual meal or special event, it's a great choice for either.

I just got the chicken tikka masala, naan, and mango lassi. I originally ordered the dinner but got confused on the pricing, and when I called in my order wasn't quoted a price, so I reverted to just the item by itself. They were accommodating by changing the order from the dinner to just the chicken tikka masala. The chicken tikka masala had no flavor, just tasted like tomato sauce, was very watery. I ordered it spicy and it had no spicy flavor. It was rather bad actually. The naan was also not good. I find it odd to charge $3 for plain naan. The only thing that was good was the mango lassi. I would definitely not order from this place again. I'm also concerned that they represent themselves as "authentic" but I didn't see anyone South Asian working there. Also I had to throw out the food because it made me sick. $20 down the drain.

The food here was alright. The price was pretty steep. I mean, $16 for 7 samosas?! An order comes with 2, the extra one was $2. The waiter made it seem as if he was going to give us the extra one for the seventh person for free, but sadly, he didn't. Ordered the aloo gohbi dinner meal ($6 extra for two vegetables of the day, naan, and rice). It was enough for two to share. The flavors were good, but I've had better and spicier Indian food for better prices. I felt like we paid a lot for the ambiance. Nice decor and music. The service was ok, but nevertheless, lacking. Not sure if I'd come here again though.

I very rarely even come on Yelp, esp to bitch, but I just had to. How does this place have 5 star reviews?!? The service was terrible - it took about 30 minutes for the naan to come out. No one brought the chutneys/sauces that always come with naan, we had to ask two servers for them. No one came back to check on our table, no smiles. My paneer masala tasted like straight up Kraft cubes floating in ketchup. Please, go around the corner to Agra, I implore you!

Here are the positives: -large menu -decent and reasonable pricing -huge portions -weekday lunch specials -friendly staff -good décor and ambiance (nice backdrop for a date night with Indian food) I gave this place three stars because with all those positives I had high expectations for a really delicious Indian food; the food was average and okay. It was not bad, but definitely not memorable either. Here's what I got: Garlic Naan - garlicky, really good, pretty soft Chicken Tikka Masala - the one I got was a bit salty and too creamy Lamb Vindaloo - average vindaloo, good, and hearty Chicken Tandoori - Big pieces, kind of dry I love Indian food and this place did not leave me satisfied. What sucks was that, we took a friend here hoping that delicious Indian food would change her negative opinion about Indian cuisine, but the dishes we got didn't do it.

So I was in the area and was craving Indian food. Saw this place had lunch specials so I decided to drop in. I had their Chicken Tikka Marsala lunch special for $7.95. It came with the chicken, rice, salad and their veggie of the day, which was some sort of lentil dish. Also because I am a true carb fatty, I had to order me some Cheese Naan. Firstly the amount of food they served me was huge. There was no way I could eat it all. Secondly the Cheese Naan was uber delicious! Super chewy, cheesy, melt, goodness. I could have just eaten this and been happy. The actual Chicken Tick Marsala was just okay. I went with this because its a pretty safe dish whenever trying out a new Indian restaurant. It was okay but the flavor didn't wow me. I also believe they didn't use white meat, which is what I'm typically use to when ordering this particular dish. The rice and salad were ok as well. Now the lentils were the best thing on the plate. And I'm not even a lentil fan. These were pretty tasty and I would definitely order them again. I ate my fill and had plenty to take home for another meal. The service was nice and I got quiet a lot of food for the price. Sure I wasn't quite a fan of their Chicken Tikka Masala. But all of the other food intrigued me enough to want to come back and try more.

Excellent for lunch. Awesome specials. The vegetarian lunch is only $6 and you get a ton of food. I work within walking distance and they get you in and out without any issues. It might take longer if you order an appetizer though. It's a little more pricey if you go for dinner, but the food is really really good!!!

Great food and atmosphere, and excellent music :) I love the malai kofta especially, but I've been here a few times and have never tried anything that wasn't really yummy. Servers Todd and Babz were friendly, attentive & made me feel welcome. Definitely give this place a try if you haven't yet.

I used to go to the old location up the street all the time. I enjoyed it then, and enjoy it now. Now though it seems like they have just upped the portion size immensely. Seriously you could get 1 appetizer, 1 dish, rice and a naan and that would easily be enough for 2 people. You get 2 dishes and you're taking something home for sure. Well unless you're the average American, who's grossly overweight, or a competitive eater, or maybe even someone that has a tube from their stomach to dump extra food into their hollow leg. I would def eat here again. Great Indian spot in LA.

It has been years since I came in here. Super glad I did. Everything was amazing. The service was excellent, and Todd, who was our server today, was fantastic. He had great suggestions, and explained their "new" (ok, not so new) menu. Saved us a ton of food since we might've ordered too much. Also, was able to grab chicken strips from Public House for our daughter. Win and win and win some more. Food wise: loved everything. The broccoli pakora was so good I could've eaten it as my main meal. The other big highlight for me was the paneer masala. Giant chunks of Paneer. Tasty.

Yesterday, my extended family and I came to this establishment. Although we were seated very quickly, it took about 20 minutes for the waiters to get us water. Now, some of us did not have straws, so we had to ask the same waiter at least 5 times before he gave us straws. To add onto that, it took them about a whole hour to get us our dishes, and 75 minutes to finally get us some Naan bread that we even ordered before our dishes. They sort of made up for it for their well cooked food, but my son ordered the lamb and he said his cuts of lamb were extremely inconsistent. For example, one of his cuts was very rare and hard to cut, when he asked for medium. Otherwise, the other cuts were well prepared on some level. I would hesitate to come back to this restaurant.

Came here a few weeks ago mostly because the name was intriguing, but was pleasantly surprised at how wonderful the service, atmosphere, and food was! We ordered one dinner, which came with naan rice, and a veggie side, and a single entree al a carte. It was more than enough food for 2 people. The service was great! Our waiter Todd was really attentive and helpful when explaining how the menu/ordering worked, which made the whole experience really enjoyable. Looking forward to going back!

Ordered a chicken curry dinner platter and rack of lamb. All the food was great and splitting one dinner platter and one a la carte entrée was more than enough food for two people. I had been here once before with a buddy but it was better this time. Service by Todd was very helpful and attentive. Great place for a date or a meal with a few friends.

The rack of lamb was superb! Also had the coconut curry and the tandoori fish. All was great, but the lamb really was the cherry on the cake! Our server, Todd, gave great suggestions and was extremely efficient!

Good food and excellent service. Todd took great care of us. The coconut curry was excellent and flavorful, paired with a good chicken masala and more than enough rice, naan, and spinach for a party of 4. Great value for the money; highly recommend.

Great dinner. This is coming from someone with a good deal of experience shoving curry into his face. Called ahead and Todd was friendly about reservations and hours. He ended up serving us when we arrived as well. For a Monday holiday a few days after Valentines, the place was still about a third full. We ordered Vegetable samosas to start and they come with an assortment of chutneys that were pretty solid. Love me some Mango chutney. For entrees we ordered Chicken Tikka Marsala and Lamb Vindaloo, both spicy. When you order them as full dinners, they come with a good portion of rice, a large naan and two vegetable sides which were surprisingly large. We joked that the spice wasn't that intense but after a few minutes, it built up to a very nice solid heat. A Taj Mahal helped to wash it down. Food was great, Todd was nice and I have leftovers for a spicy lunch tomorrow. No complaints here.

I recently went to Electric Lotus before attending class across the street. When my friend and I walked in we were greeted by Todd. It was early evening and he had on Classic rock but asked our preference for music and how loud we desired. I said it was my friend's birthday and I would go by her decision. Our dinner was delicious and he gave recommendations for meals and appetites. After dinner he came out with a lighted cheesecake on the house and also took my friend's beer off the tab as a gift. He made her feel special and I was delighted as the meal was on me. I had only mentioned her B-day because of the music and I would have chosen the sitar. Thanks Todd!

I went on my second date with my now husband at this place. He swears its the best Indian food in LA. The Saag Paneer is really good. I mean, my favorite of any Indian food restaurant that I've tried. I love anything Masala. Todd was a very nice waiter. I like the sweating buddha at the door. Its dark and cozy inside and they don't over-air condition.

This place is an enigma. The night we came we couldn't tell from the outside if the restaurant was open. It was. The decor inside sucked. It was almost uninviting. And there was no music. No sounds, except for the conversations at the other tables. (They need better conversations at the other tables.) But the food was awesome! And there was a lot of it! Chicken Jelfarzi and Chicken Masala! Do it! "We won't be able to eat that naan," I told Todd, the manager. "That's OK," he said. "I can usually find someone on my walk home who could use it." We ate well that night. And I trust that Todd made sure a hungry person on the street had at least a delicious helping of buttery naan. Check out the joint. And try to have something interesting to talk about. We'll be back. And we'll be listening. * Todd gave us a manager discount if we promised to write a Yelp review. Although generous, the $4.68 he took off the bill had no effect on this review, warts and all.

If I could give this place -10 stars I would, our office typically orders on average of 1 per week 8+ orders. In the past we have not received some of the items but that is no big deal This place charges a deliver charge, and we tip on top of our orders. Today, we received the WRONG order/with the WRONG side items for every person. Contacted the owner, and he was argumentative, and completely rude. Sir, customer service is a MUST, if you want to keep a business well and alive in HOLLYWOOD, I"m sorry, but we will never order from this place every again. We will continue to order from the many other indian restaurants around the area. And as the owner...you completely suck!!!!!

Food fine, service fine, but audio problems made it hard to have a nice experience. The music, which was too loud to begin with, stopped and started many, many times throughout our 1-hour meal. It was very distracting. Every time it stopped, we'd think, surely now they are fixing it, or at least ending the agony by shutting it off completely if they couldn't get it to work. But it kept turning back on, only to snap off a few moments later. The stopping and starting continued on and on without any staff member seeming to notice it as a problem. I don't get it. How could they think this is okay?

Very friendly staff and a quite calm atmosphere. One thing to consider; their "hot" isn't spicy at all, so if you like spicy, don't be afraid to ask them to turn up the heat!

I just moved down the street and was hoping this place would be my new Indian spot, and it now is! James was our server and he took great care of us. His recommendations were spot on, and everything we tried was outstanding. Tried the samosas, coconut curry, aloo vindaloo, pulao rice, and the garlic naan. Definitely take advantage of the 3 sauces they offer, particularly the mint sauce. Oh, and the hot sauce if you like to heat it up. Great beer selection as well, we went with their IPA. My dinner companion and I both especially enjoyed the coconut curry. A friendly gentleman named Todd checked on us frequently and was very helpful. Can't wait to visit again and try more of the menu. Thanks guys!

yum! really good food. we went family style. It was a little uncomfortable inside as it was hot at lunchtime and the air was humid and hot inside. Other than that, the service was good and the food was great. A little expensive. About $25 each for lunch including tax and tip.

Best Ambience, food, service.. Went there for dinner after around 4 years and they moved to new location. Ordered indian Salad, Paneer Tikka, garlic naan, kulcha.. 1) Indian Salad: super tasty. They put some magical masala in cucumber, tomato, onion on large platter. Meal in itself. 2) Paneer Tikka:good quantity and smoking flavor. Best we had in recenttimes at any place. 3) Naan or Kulcha- both were huge and 2 of us could not finish them so we bright one back :). Garlic naan was litle hard though. But will still say-very well prepared. 4) I think-ambience, low lighting, amazing music, and good food together makes you feel just relaxing and njoying every piece of food so much..was a great dinner for us.. Parking could be tough on weekend but you might get road parking if u r there before 10pm for dinner. Will recommend as one of the best in LA.

Best Indian Food ever. Go to there. Everybody must have that one place that got them to join Yelp. Electric Lotus is mine. I've been eating there several times a week for the past few months and every time has been a delight. I've had several different items on the menu and found them to be consistently top-notch, especially the Chicken Tikka Masala. The spicing and preparation is perfect, better than everywhere else I've tried -- even the old location they had down the street. Do yourself a favor and give it a try.

I swear, this is the best Indian food I have ever had. I went here last night (first time for me since their new location) and it was just as good as I remembered and hit the spot. I am an Indian food lover, have tried many places all over LA, and this is the absolute best. The veggie samosas are amazing, big, and fried to perfection. We also had the saag paneer, channa masala, and mali kofta (which was not on the menu but they accommodated since it was a love of ours from their last location's menu). All were incredible. The chutneys are also the best I have ever tasted. We ordered everything spicy and it was the perfect amount of spice, with all the flavors still abundant. The music and ambience of the restaurant are great, no muzak or other cheesy nonsense. The only thing I miss from the last location are the charming little "cubbies" they used to have with drapes for privacy. But the decor still is a bit warmer than the previous location.

Electric Lotus is our go-to place for great Indian food in Los Feliz. We're creatures of habit, so we almost always go for the chicken tikka masala, naan, raita, and rice. The tikka masala is out of this world - rich, creamy, and complex, with the perfect amount of heat (we go for medium spicy). The excellent food is complemented by the pleasant atmosphere (great music!) and the friendly, attentive service - Todd and Babz are absolutely on top of things. We'll see you there!

    (5)
  • Tommy G.

I love the food here but I can't give more than 3 stars due to the fact that service sucks. It's not the employees fault but the owners need to hire more people specially on weekends. It took too long to be seated or even get served. That aside the food is amazing. I will give this place another shot as I love the food.

  • Cesar V.

Yelp shows its open (current time was 4:30pm). We went inside and saw two people eating dinner but yet there was no host. I checked the back and could not find anyone. The server next door told us they open at 5pm. We went next door to The Sidewalk Grill Mediterranean and I called Electric Lotus but no one answered. So we settled for Mediterranean this time.

I wish this place was good, but it just isn't. The food was bland and tasteless at the previous location. I thought maybe things would have changed at their newly opened spot - nope.. mediocre as ever.

Electric lotus is amazing. Had their chicken Masala, garlic garlic cheese nan, pilau rice, and Somosas all the plates taste amazing. I have had great Indian food in England i can actually say it taste as good or even better. Be ready to spray that body spray because them spice scents penetrate. : )

To be honest I didn't actually get the chance to sit down and eat. The person I was with simply decided that they preferred to go someplace more casual since we were in yoga pants and tank tops. But anyway, I believe that this place deserves a five star review on my first impression alone! The smells coming from here were simply amazing!!! The ambiance seemed very fun without being overwhelming and absolutely everything looked delicious!! I can't wait to come and actually have a bite to eat!!

I'd luv to be able to give the Electra Lotus 5 Stars, but unfortunately the service we received the second time we went was AWFUL! The first time I came here was on a Saturday night and we were greeted by a very kind and wonderful woman and the service and food was so excellent I looked forward to returning. However, when we went on Saturday during the day the girl who waited on us was totally rude! I couldn't believe it. She made us feel like we were bothering her! Totally ruined the experience! I won't be returning.

Really enjoyed the food here. We got the meal deal. I had Saag Chicken and it came with two great side vegetables and a large portion of rice. The naan was also quite large. My eating companion had the chicken tikka masala. The saag was quite good, so was the chicken tikka masala. Todd was our server and he did a lovely job.

Holy crap this is the best Indian food I've ever had. My bosses just treated us to some chicken tika masala and a bunch of other stuff. Maximum flavor. They said their server Todd was great and to mention him on here. This place is worth your time and money if you like Indian food!!!

Tasteless and expensive . I loved the old electric lotus but this chef must not Indian now . No cardamom tastes anywhere to be had. The naan bread was like soggy dough. Samosas"s were filled with mashed potatoes and peas . Lamb and mint curry had no mint . Saag was creamed spinage . Saturday night and it was empty . Not surprising .

Being English I struggle to find decent Indian in LA so usually wind up . I'm picky. This is definitely one of the best in town. Great jalfrezi and veg biriyani and the only place I've had naan bread locally that doesn't resemble soggy pita bread. Stull not quite as chunky as London naan but tasty nonetheless. Atomosphere is nice but service can be on the slow side unless Todd is working. Usually check this is the case before deciding to eat in or take out. They also don't skimp on the portions like a lot of local places. If I can't be arsed to cook myself, this is the place to go.

This is my go-to indian food spot in Los Feliz! I always get the tofu coconut curry and my friends usually get the aloo broccoli and the channah aloo, which I steal a bite of every time ;) hehe. Very yummy food. We are usually served by Babz, who is becoming my friends' favorite waitress as we've gotten to know her the past few months. She is funny, genuine and efficient, and always makes us feel welcome. Thanks Lotus!

My new favorite restaurant in Los Feliz! I've been looking for a great Indian restaurant to eat at and Electric Lotus is fantastic! Love the Jelfarzi and Makhni! Their paneer is delicious! Reasonably priced and the atmosphere is romantic and cozy. Todd and Babz were very accommodating as well.

My favorite Indian food restaurant in LA. Food is always always terrific. Had their vegetarian "meal deal" at Todd's recommendation - perfect for 2 since we tend to order too much and then eat it all anyway. The food is so perfectly seasoned that it goes straight to your soul :)

I've eaten at Electric Lotus twice now. The first time was at the restaurant and it was a good experience. The food was good and service wasn't bad. They were going to get four stars from me until our delivery mishap this past Saturday where I really wanted to give them two stars. I'm not hangry anymore and I hate punishing restaurants for one mistake so I've decided to meet in the middle at three stars. I'll continue to eat here because the food's really good but I hope they don't mess up another order. We place our order around 7PM and the server told us it'd take about 45-60min. An hour passes and no sign of them so I call and ask where our order was. The server seemed a little confused when I asked about it and then she tells me a minute later that our order was never put in. I ask if I can talk to the other girl that put in our order and she's like I think it was me. There was no apology at first. It was a lot of weird silences and me having to figure out what they were going to do about it. I ask her how long it would take if we placed the order again and she says 30 min so I say that's fine as long as it's here in 30 min. 30 mins goes by and still nothing so I call back and ask where it is and she says she thought I was going to call back with the order. I thought she still had the order because she said it wasn't put in, but in actuality, she LOST the whole order. At this point, I'm super annoyed because we waited patiently for 1.5 hours and she didn't really seem sincere about her apology and wasn't trying to make things better. I ask for her manager and she says he wasn't there. I ask for her name and she's reluctant to tell me. We were set on eating Electric Lotus so I tell her our order AGAIN and I'm waiting for her to say I'll comp this meal or give you a discount or SOMETHING! She doesn't offer anything so I had to ask. The one nice thing she did do was call me when the delivery guy left and tell me that our order was taken care of and on it's way. Finally! Something to really show she felt bad for making us wait 2 hours. Ways she could've handled the situation better when she realized she LOST our order: apologize and mean it, if you mess up just own up to it or at least sound sincere, tell me you'll get my order out ASAP and that you'll give us a discount or throw in something. I think you should always want a customer to feel like they're taken care of so they want to go back and I definitely didn't get that vibe from her. It was more like a "well what do you want me to do about it now" attitude. This was such an unfortunate situation and we were super bummed that it happened because we love the food here. Now I'm worried that that server will recognize me and spit in my food if she hasn't already. As for the food, we ordered the same things both times and will continue to order these things: - veggie soup: so good! filled with a variety of veggies, very flavorful and super comforting - vegetable samosas: the filling was really good and it was perfectly fried - chicken tikka masala dinner: comes with naan, rice and two veggie sides. the first time it was spinach and garbanzo beans, the second time was spinach and naan. the sauce was delicious and the chicken was tender and full of flavor. this dish goes really well with the rice and naan. - saag paneer: really good but i don't order this if one of the meal sides is spinach. the only difference is they add cheese to this one. - cauliflower and potato veggie entree: good! - garlic naan: we get an extra order so we can eat it with leftovers Love the food but still unsure about the service. Will give them another shot though.

Food was awesome! Todd our server took great care of us. Chicken tikka was rich and layered with just the right amount of spice, the spinach was smooth without being mushy. Try the lamb coconut curry!

After I posted my initial review the owner of Electric Lotus called me back to personally apologize for what appeared to be a communication breakdown between the restaurant and Grub Hub. He then offered to comp me a meal of the same value any time I wanted. I called in the comp a couple of days ago and the owner got on the phone with me and apologized again before sending out my order in a timely fashion. The food was really good and I appreciate Electric Lotus taking ownership of what happened and making good on it.

Best indian food in area. Ordered food for big party and everything was very good, lamb korma, chicken masala, vegie samosa, and some other dishes we've excellent. Before my party I tried food in few restaurants in area and even in Artesia, but this was the best indian food. They delivered food and service was very good. Love this place, definitely will go back.

I'm torn ... You see I walked in with my 4 1/2 year old. Like Steve C. we were on our way to another place. She was instantly smitten with the gorgeous decor (lots of tapestry on the walls, etc.) and wanted to eat there. I asked the hostess what she recommended for kids and I kid you not, she told us that kids don't normally eat there and that a kid who ate there just the other day was crying he was so upset about the food. Not to be deterred, I wanted to give it a try and, well, the kidlet was in love with the place. We sat down anyway. I wasn't terribly hungry and she was so I decided we could share a chicken tikka dinner. I ordered it with sag paneer and daal. Kid LOVED the chicken after mom took the offending (yet delicious) onions and peppers off and she loved the rice and naan. I personally thought the naan wasn't fluffy enough at all and it was served cold. The vegetables were completely flavourless and again, cold. It almost seemed like they plated everything but the chicken in advance because that was fresh from the kitchen. We will try again but I will be sure to specify spicy for the veggie dishes and order separate meals but I might skip the naan altogheter. I would give 4 stars for the food an decor but only 2 for cold food and bad service. That's why I'm giving 3. It was also odd having to go to the bar next door to use the bathroom with my kid. In a place where I can see the bathroom door I can let her go by herself so it was a little annoying and the bathroom was filthy! I checked the lunch prices and they are SO SO SO much cheaper that my next attempt will definitely be getting takeout for lunch and reheating at dinnertime! That said, I did promise the kid we could sit at the "princess" table in front.

SO GOOD! We order take out once a week. We do the dinner specials (+$6 for rice and two sides.) So much food and so yummy! I love the mint curry with lamb. Husband gets chicken masala. Always order a side of raita- it's divine. Always have leftovers- makes a great lunch the next day.

Finally, an indian restaurant that when you say "spicy" actually has some flavor! I'm so used to places looking at my lack of a tan and giving me something bland. The tikka masala had absolutely the perfect level of kick, and not a generic spicy, but one truly packed with flavor and nuance. One of the best chicken tikka masalas I've ever had, hands down, and my boyfriend is desi, so i've had a few. The nan could've been a little butterier, but was still nice and fluffy, so next time i'll just ask for it that way. The ambiance is absolutely beautiful and romantic. Great for date night, or a classy place to meet with friends. Fun street, too, so a nice neighborhood for window shopping before or after. Definitely check it out, you won't be disappointed.

This was our first time eating in the new location on Vermont, and it definitely won't be our last. Food, service, and ambiance were all top notch. Todd and James took great care of us, and we left very satisfied! I'm looking forward to coming back

Was actually walking up to another eatery when we saw this just opened place and decided Indian sounded like a good alternative. Was early on a Saturday, so we easily got a table on the sidewalk to enjoy both the perfect early fall weather and the Los Feliz street scene. I got the Keema Samosas as an appetizer and the coconut curried lamb with spinach & lentils for the sides. All was very tasty and my medium spicy was just right (too spicy and I will start hiccuping, so avoiding it is always the goal). Wish I had thought to write down the chicken dish my friend ordered, but he told the manager it was excellent. The interior (see pic above) is very nicely designed and kept date-friendly dark, so I great destination for a romantic meal.

Electric Lotus blew us away tonight. Great food (as always) and killer music. As much as I love a sitar, and I do, a New Wave playlist will always win out. Nicely done, Todd! We'll be back for sure.

Absolutely love this place. It's not too pricey, and if you get the dinner option you get a huge amount of food. We normally share the entree as it is just too much. Really flavorful and delicious. Love the Shrimp Korma. Definitely recommended!

Definitely recommend electric lotus. Big portion of food and good service- Great tasting food with natural ingredients & great flavor, you get a lot of food for the price & it tastes good, plus the service & ambience is great, very cool place. Ask for Todd, he's the hook up.

The food is delightful. I've been here 4x since it opened last week. I had a couple of the tika masalas, the lamb one's this side of amazing. I just got done enjoying the chicken korma on the suggestion of the owner and his wife, which was really good. The garlic naan is swell, also just tried the cheesy naan on the recommendation of the waitress, and was quite happy. I'd recommend it to my pals.

Great Indian food, awesome ambiance! The manager (Todd) gave us a discount after he heard we were new to LA. Could be improved if they bought a subscription to Pandora (tabla music interspersed with McDonald's commercials isn't the classiest...) but hopefully they'll change that after reading this review! :)

  • J R.

This place flies in the face of the trend of good Indian Restaurants moving to cheap cuts of meat and small portions. My chicken korma was excellent with great cuts of chicken and good portion size. The (Benghan) Bertha eggplant dish was excellent as well. One caveat, it you say "make it hot" you better mean it!

I hate to do this because we come here pretty often and probably still will in the future, but it must be said. The service is just numbingly slow. We've been here for lunch, early dinner, and primetime dinner, and we've always had to wait forever even to just get water. And if you sit in one of the center tables you'll be able to hear the other parties seated next to you complain about the same thing. Kills the mood. Too bad because the food is decent, the portions are generous, and the decor is very nice. But instead of being a given, I'll think twice about considering this for our next local night out.

My daughter and I ate dinner here based on the recommendation of a friend. The restaurant has very interesting and authentic "Indian" decor. The food was very good and our service was quick - but not rushed. We ordered Palek Paneer, Daal, Chicken Makhni, and Naan - more than enough for both of us and leftovers for the next day's lunch. We were asked by several staff members if there was anything else we needed and if we were enjoying the food. Our server, Todd, was very attentive. We were also asked how spicy we would like the food prepared so for you diehard spicy people this is your place!! I would eat here again and recommend you give it a try!

I finally made the trip to Electric Lotus. I'm actually here as I write this review update. I came at an off-time while in the area. The food is as good as I remember...really good. The tikka masala is delicious and has cilantro in that gives it more flavor. The rice is good and the chicken naan is really good. The service is good. I just wish I lived closer. I will be hitting this place up when in the area.

Really great food and a big menu. I seriously love this place. I eat here probably once a week and have never been disappointed. I've had the Chicken Tiki Masala, Aloo Galbee, Coconut Curry, Mint Curry, Mushroom Matar, the Indian Salad, Naan, and Samosas (not all at the same time). It's all good. Pretty good wine selection as well. I suggest the Malbec. Overall A++++++

Went here on Valentines day and had the paneer masala. IT WAS SO GOOD. It came with chunks of veggies in the sauce which was cool. Boyfriend had chicken masala which was good too, but I enjoyed the paneer more. Only thing off the top of my head that they could improve on was the lighting- it was so dark! Could be a safety hazard? Maybe serve on square plates too since the round plates on a small square table seemed awkward. Will def come back

Went here a few weeks ago after hearing so many great things about this place. The service was mediocre and not very attentive, but the tragedy was that this was the worst Chicken Tikka Masala that I have ever had. Gross, will not be back!

Came here on valentines day. I really lucked out! I had no reservations and was still able to get a table. They dressed up the place with the Valentine flare but still had an intimate ambience. The staff was friendly and very professional. The food was quick to come and was very delicious. I recommend the garlic chicken takki! The portions are huge so you get what you paid for. Thank you guys for being lifesaving on Valentine's!

I liked the interior of the restaurant the big door makes it mysterious. The fish was decent, the veggies were all sort of made into a paste and had a baby food like texture. It didn't taste bad it just wasn't what I really expected from Indian food. Decent enough place but I couldn't tell you if the Indian food was authentic or not.

I loved this place when it was up the street awhile ago. When I found out it was reopening, I rejoiced and proceeded to call most of my family to inform them of the good news. Dinner can be pricey (like most Indian places), but lunch specials are a great deal. Food is amazing, especially the samosas, and my dad says the sag paneer is the best he's had. The service and atmosphere are also spot on.

Always listen to the waiter, they know what they are talking about here. The food was mind-blowing, many layers of flavors. They have some delicious sauces to mix up the flavors such as a tamarind sauce and a mango chutney, perfect with their oh-so-worth-it garlic naan. Very friendly staff, will definitely revisit.

This place is DELICIOUS. I went during their re-grand opening a couple weeks ago and they gave us free veggie samosas and rice pudding - both of which were AMAZING. The veggie samosas have this perfect hot crispy shell filled with potato and other delectable veggies - I highly recommend getting a couple orders. They give you three different sauces at the table and the waitress recommended mixing the tamarind one with the sweet one (it's yellow - I forget what it's made of) and it was TO DIE FOR, especially with our naan and samosas. If you get a dinner, it's definitely enough to share! The "2 veggies" we got (when you upgrade to a "dinner" sized portion, you get 2 vegetables, which are basically cook's choice) were a spinachy-garbanzo bean thing which was weird but surprisingly flavorful and some potato thing that I unfortunately forget, but remember liking it more than the spinach. Overall I had a really great experience and would recommend it to anyone looking for an amazing Indian cuisine experience!

The 'Electric Paneer' is total bliss out joy. I eat it in my dreams. My dreams are bliss. I eat Electric Paneer on magic carpet rides through my blissed out marijuanafied daydreams. I put electric paneer on rice. I put electric paneer on naan. I drink a tall Taj Mahal beer and savor the little bubbles. I eat saag that tastes like the ghee of a thousand worshipful cows spinning in a bliss out kalidescopic mandala glorifying Electric Paneer.

Todd is the ultimate server--he helped us choose our dishes and was super-attentive but not annoyingly so. He was awesome! We had the chicken Korma and it was amazing! The naan is literally as long as your table and is perfect for dipping in sauces and sharing. Great meal!

I keep coming back to this place. I wish I could give 3 1/2, cuz thats how i feel. The decor inside is amazing, great atmosphere and the food is some of the best indian food I've ever had. Not greasy or soggy, always feels vegetable-full and healthy, suer flavorful, and if you get the "Dinner," which is basically a meal plus rice, 2 veggies and naan, the portion is generous which is always appreciated. Here are my qualms: service. I come here once every two weeks or so and even so they can be kind of cold, sometimes even rude (but this seems to be how dining out is in LA.) This, and they mess up my order whenever I get a substitution, and sometimes forget drinks I've ordered etc. Overall though, the food is worth it. Try the mango Lassi!

So disappointing. We used to love Electric Lotus when they were in their former location. Had delivery last night that arrived cold, had weird crunchy bits on the naan and in the "dinner plate" veggies. Flavors weren't spectacular. Over priced. Need I say more?

The good: Rolled in without a reservation at 5:30 on Saturday "night" before a 7pm movie. Yes, I do realize it was so early the hipsters weren't out yet in hypstervile so of course it wasn't crowded. Although, now that I think about it, the adjoining sports-bar was packed as were several other places on Vermont. Also, the service was good as were the portions. The bad: Appreciated that I could get saag without cheese or animals but the tofu was mushy, like it came straight out of the container. Would've appreciated it being fried so as to get a 'skin.' It was unevenly cooked and worse, it lacked flavor. The ugly: $3.00 for a bowl of white rice. Really? I didn't mind paying $9.50 for the saag which I thought was high but $3.00 for white rice. Really?

  • C G.

I was excited that this place opened back up in a new location, because I'm always looking for good Indian food in the neighborhood. I got takeout. The food was pretty good, but I was very disappointed that they substituted tofu for cheese in my sag paneer. I'd read another review that said they did this, so when I ordered over the phone I specifically (but politely) said "sag paneer with cheese, NO tofu" and they repeated this back to me. I still got tofu, which I only discovered when I got home. It was really disappointing, especially since it meant my kid couldn't eat any of it as he is allergic to soy. I tried to call them about it, but no one answered the phone. So I hope they read this and stop trying to pass tofu off as cheese.

Yesterday afternoon after viewing 'The 100 Foot Journey" at the Los a Feliz 3, my friend and I were so hungry for Indian food! The guy at the theatre suggested walking down to the Electric Lotus. We did, but the door was locked. We checked the menus near the outdoor table, opened from 11am-11pm. We had a bit of a discussion and a gentleman from next door came out. He was the owner of Electric Lotus and said 'yes, he would serve us.' In we went, and enjoyed a private dinner of curried lamb with beans, spinach, naan and a wonderful tandoori chicken. It was a special experience, an actialization of the tantalizing food in the film. The owner and the waiter were especially attentive. We learned that the restaurant is usually closed from 3-5pm. We were treated so well. I encourage restaurant owner to walk up the street and create a tie-in withe the movie! Thanks for taking such good care of us. Reasonable cost for all the food, ambience and for providing us wth such courtesy! Diane, Hollywood

The decor is really cool with the hanging curtains but I didn't enjoy the food very much. I may not have tried the right dishes, but medium-spicy was not spicy at all to me and dishes ranging from eggplant, chicken, and lamb all seemed to lack depth in flavor and texture. The giant naan bread was fun to tear pieces off though.

Eh, just okay. Got delivery through Grubhub: CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA DINNER, LAMB VINDALOO. Total was nearly $40, which was a bit high. The tikka came with one large piece of plain naan, rice, and 2 side-veggies: saag, and a kind of tofu pea curry. The tofu was pretty decent, and the meat was mostly tender, but overall there just wasn't much depth of flavor, and no spice whatsoever (they didn't allow you to specify your spice level on Grubhub, so maybe I should have added that in special instructions). The naan also tasted a bit old and dry. Hopefully this place is still working some kinks out, but as of now, I won't be ordering from here again.

Stoked to have a veg-friendly spot in the neighborhood again. I liked the food at the old location, and like it here. Very happy they didn't try to completely reinvent the menu with the location change! My only gripe is it's THE darkest restaurant around, just like the old one was. It feels like at any moment a screen will drop from the ceiling and a bollywood film will begin playing -but it doesn't. Great food, great service. Good to have you back EL.

We were devastated when Electric Lotus closed at its other Vermont Ave. location. Then just last week as we were going to our favorite independent bookstore we saw that Electric Lotus had reopened down the street! I don't claim to be an Indian food expert. We tend to order vegetarian at Electric Lotus, since most restaurants disappoint in that category. The vegetable korma and the mushroom curry were excellent and not too spicy since we asked for milder. The raitah side goes so well with those as well as the trio of sauces they provide. We had the paswari naan with raisins and coconut. The food is wonderful. My only concern is that the service tends to be a little crazy and inconsistent. The owners are lovely people and we will return. They have valet in front of the restaurant which is a huge improvement over the past parking situation. BTW...Full Bar! I know I will give them five stars soon!

Randomly chose this restaurant on the way to the Greek. The atmosphere was excellent when we walked in with calming music and traditional Indian decor. The staff is very nice and friendly. The food came out quick and was DELICIOUS! We tried both a chicken and a vegetable dish and both were better than any Indian food restaurant we have been to. Good job!

Came here for lunch and I loved it! The onion pakora was good, big plate to share. Got the chicken tikka masala lunch special and also loved it, it was so big I had to pack half to go. Cheese naan was just right, too. Definitely coming back.

Terrible tikka masala sauce. I don't know what's so hard about this sauce to get right, folks. The garlic naan was great as was the saag. But really--these folks need to nail the tikka sauce. They have the ambience down. Now just get the food straight.

I was just here on friday night. I came to this restaurant to try the indian food, and it was the best that I've ever eaten in Los Angeles. The service was impeccable, and our food came out in a timely order. The Lamb Vindaloo was amazing, bursting with flavor and authentic indian spice. I also suggest the Garlic Naan bread. I am definitely coming back here very soon.

I came in and was very disappointed. Firstly, upon arrival we asked if the parking lot that has "reserved for electric lotus" written on the spaces was still good. The host didn't know. I had a coupon for free appetizer, wine and dessert. I presented it to the waiter he wasn't sure if it was valid and he had to call the manager. When he refilled our water glasses he said he would honor the coupon. The manager then came out asked to see the coupon. I showed the coupon in both email, web and downloaded on my phone. While the manager was looking at the coupon the free appetizer arrived-it was then he said that he wouldn't honor the coupon. We then checked to see with the manager if the parking lot the host knew nothing about was good, we were advised it was not and they have a new lot. I had to go stand outside to guide our guest to the parking lot that is "correct" while the manager sat and did nothing. Our food arrived 2 out of the 3 lunch orders were wrong. At the very end the manager gave us $4 off a $51 order. The food I will say is decent. The service was abysmal. To not know the parking lot, to refuse a valid coupon after serving up the food, to get two orders wrong-will NOT return.

Best Indian food I've had in LA and I've been to most places. The chicken tikka is perfectly cooked and spiced, and when you add the masala sauce...call the cops. It doesn't get any better. Order the full dinner and you'll have enough for two meals.

My boyfriend and I have been here about 3 times now and every time the food is excellent and the service is great. We first stumbled upon it on a Friday night when they were about to close and I hate to be that last minute customer. But they encouraged us to sit and order and promised our food would be out fast and we wouldn't be a burden on their closing routine. If I were the waitress I'd be extremely annoyed a couple was ordering at closing time but she was very sweet! We ordered the chicken tikka masala with garlic naan and it was delicious. We order the same thing every time and it's amazing every time. At the end of the night they brought us complimentary rice pudding which was such a sweet gesture! That definitely ensured we'd return and have ever since!

I must say that I was extremely excited when It Finally Opened! My boyfriend had been talking about this great Indian Restaurant there was in Los Feliz and that we should go on our first date. It turned out when we finally arrived to it's old location it was closed. I was so disappointed because I love Indian food. It's just has so much flavor and they use many spices and you can tell great food techniques to make the food taste and look yummy! Well, I finally tried their food two days ago after waiting a year and two months and it was the best experience ever! The Food was delicious, it was well portioned out for two people and the ambiance was wonderful. It was a wonderful dinner night with my boyfriend and very romantic. Great wine selections as well. The smell inside the restaurant definitely awakens your senses and makes you crave the food they are about to serve you. Great decorations and does not feel overly crowded even though at times there seems to be a small rush but then it gets more empty. I have to say if you are in the mood for Indian this is the place. It is a bit pricey for the dishes they offer and considering I am from SB area it wasn't too bad. I'd pay the price again. lol. The service was great although our waitress it seemed she was not too familiar with the dishes but tried her best. We ordered the tikka chicken, with rice, two vegie side dishes, which I don't remember asking for (one was spinach I believe and the other was garbanzo bean ) and a big piece of nanan bread for more than two people. Overall great and recommended!

So I'm outside sitting at 1739 Public House having my usual Old Fashioned and two doors down, Electric Lotus is putting the finishing touches and preparing for their opening. As I watch individuals pass the door I continuously hear, "so excited to know your re-opening!" Of course this strikes curiosity and on day one of the opened doors, I began my understanding of what makes Electric Lotus. Being my first time, I go with the main stream staple, chicken tikka masala and garlic naan. Really not expecting much, in comes the dish and whoa my taste buds are awakened....delicious. My friend shares her bhindhi masala and for a carnivore, I did not miss the meat...again delicious. I returned a few days later, palate prepared for more exotic dishes. By recommendation of the owner, lamb bhuna and fish mint curry are placed on my table. I love lamb, I love fish but these two dishes pleasurably assaulted my taste buds in ways I should feel guilty about...but I don't. I was told to try the rack of lamb next time...I will. I've yet to try all the dishes but like The Kama Sutra, every dish should be a pleasure. Yes, I plan on returning and highly recommend Electric Lotus.

Okay here it goes... I grew up in Los Feliz and Electric Lotus, the OG spot right next to the 7/11 was always a go-to for my family. Now that they moved to their new location I thought yay! why not have a family reunion at a great joint. Anyways, I follow LA eater and they happened to feature the restaurant with the following deal: " LOS FELIZ-- Electric Lotus switched seats with Public House 1739, moving into the pub's old digs on N. Vermont. The Indian restaurant relaunched one week ago, though today sent out an opening alert offering patrons a comp samosa, dessert, and glass of wine with any $20 purchase. [EaterWire]" So we get there and I mention in it to our waitress who kinda looks shocked and then asks if I have it as a print out on paper per person for our party of 4. I look at her and answer that I do not have it printed it out, but it was boldly stated that this was the offer and there shouldn't be any question about that. Well, she said I will bring you 1 glass of wine and 3 samosas even though we were a party of 4. Then she came out with only 3 glasses of wine and 3 samosas. Well that's swell lady. So we forgave that. $80 later as we pay for our meal she disregarded the fact that a dessert was also part of the special offer. Either way, I did not appreciate being treated like I am asking for an arm and a leg. If you advertise an offer, please HONOR IT!!!! We walked out without even mentioning it again. The food was okay. My plate temperature wasn't hot enough. But overall the food wasn't too bad. I think the service threw me off and really I probably will not be going back. Felt like I was begging for food when in reality I was re-stating an offer they advertised.
